Hair restoration
Physician-led, non-surgical hair restoration. TED uses acoustic sound waves and air pressure to deliver a hair growth serum into the scalp, with no needles, no pain and no downtime.
TED (TransEpidermal Delivery) is a non-invasive, needle-free and pain-free hair loss treatment. A handpiece uses low-frequency acoustic sound waves and air pressure to carry a hair growth serum through the skin's top layer to the follicles. Most patients have three 20 to 30 minute sessions, one month apart, with no downtime.
The serum is the TED+ Hair Care Formula, a blend of growth factors, peptides and nutrients essential for follicle health. Once it reaches the scalp, it supports scalp health, reduces inflammation, improves blood flow and stimulates the follicles to produce thicker, stronger hair.
Traditional hair restoration treatments can be effective, but they often involve needles, injections, discomfort and downtime. For many people, the fear of pain and the inconvenience of recovery have kept effective treatment out of reach. TED was designed to remove those barriers.
TED is an excellent option for men and women in the early to moderate stages of hair loss. Like every hair restoration plan at Dermagnify, it starts with an evaluation by Dr. Mark A. Cappel, MD, so the treatment is matched to the cause of your thinning.
Key concerns addressed
TED is designed for thinning and shedding in both men and women, especially in the early to moderate stages.
Male and female pattern hair loss, the most common cause of hair loss: a receding hairline in men and diffuse thinning in women.
Excessive shedding caused by stress, illness, hormonal changes or nutritional deficiencies.
Noticing more hair than usual on your brush, in the shower or on your pillow.
An unhealthy scalp environment can hold back growth. TED improves scalp health by increasing blood flow and delivering essential nutrients.
Benefits
TED works on both the follicle and the scalp around it, without the pain or trauma of needles.
Promotes the growth of new, thicker and stronger hair.
Strengthens existing hair, leading to a significant reduction in shedding.
Increases the number and thickness of hair strands for a fuller appearance.
Improves blood flow and delivers essential nutrients to create an optimal environment for hair growth.
A comfortable, anxiety-free experience without the pain of injections.
Quick and convenient. You can return to your normal activities immediately after each session.
TED combines two elements: acoustic sound waves with air pressure, and a proprietary hair growth serum. Together they nourish the follicles and promote growth from within, without breaking the skin.
The handpiece uses low-frequency acoustic sound waves and air pressure to create temporary, microscopic channels in the top layer of the skin, the stratum corneum. This process, known as acoustic cavitation, lets the serum bypass the skin's protective barrier and penetrate deep into the scalp, where the hair follicles reside.
The TED+ Hair Care Formula is then carried to the follicles. Its growth factors, peptides and nutrients are designed to support scalp health, reduce inflammation, improve blood flow and stimulate the follicles to produce thicker, stronger hair.
A TED session is comfortable and relaxing. Your provider passes the TED handpiece over the treatment area. You feel a warm, vibrating sensation and hear a quiet ringing sound as the device works, but there is no pain. The treatment takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
Preparation is simple: arrive with clean, dry hair, free of any styling products. Afterward there is no downtime, so you can go straight back to work or your day. The one instruction is to avoid washing your hair for 24 hours so the serum can fully absorb.
Most patients start with a series of three treatments, spaced one month apart. Reduced shedding is often noticed within a month, and visible new growth and thickness appear over the next 2 to 3 months.
Optimal results are visible 3 to 6 months after the series is complete. Results are long-lasting with maintenance, and maintenance treatments are recommended every 6 to 12 months to protect the density you have gained.
Results build gradually because they follow the hair's natural growth cycle. Having realistic expectations and completing the full series matter as much as the treatment itself.
Yes. TED is often combined with PRP/PRF, supplements and other therapies for enhanced results. Because hair loss usually has more than one driver, Dr. Cappel may pair TED with treatments that work from a different angle.
The difference between TED and PRP is how growth factors reach the scalp. TED is completely non-invasive and uses a proprietary serum, while PRP involves drawing your blood and injecting the processed plasma into your scalp.
