Hair restoration
Physician-led, non-surgical hair restoration: growth factors from a small sample of your own blood, injected into thinning areas of the scalp by Dr. Cappel.
For many men and women in the early to moderate stages of hair loss, yes. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) concentrate the growth factors in your own blood and deliver them into thinning areas of the scalp, where they stimulate follicles, reduce shedding and increase thickness and density. Results build gradually over a series of 3 to 4 treatments.
Hair loss and thinning affect millions of men and women, and many patients now want a natural, regenerative option that uses the body's own healing power. PRP and PRF are exactly that: 100% autologous, made from your blood alone, so there is no risk of an allergic reaction.
Platelets are not just clotting cells. They carry signaling proteins that tell tissue to repair itself. On the scalp, those growth factors are used to support follicles that are thinning but not yet dormant, while reducing inflammation and improving blood flow.
We use ezPRF and ezGEL, and treatment always starts with a diagnosis. Dr. Cappel examines your hair and scalp, identifies the pattern and stage of your hair loss, and tells you honestly whether PRP or PRF is the right tool or whether another treatment would serve you better.
Three preparations
All three start from the same small blood draw. How the sample is processed changes how it behaves once it is in the scalp.
Spun at high speed, with an anticoagulant added to keep the sample liquid. It releases its growth factors in a rapid burst over the hours after treatment.
Spun more slowly, at lower force, with nothing added, so it stays entirely your own. Platelets and white blood cells are held in a fibrin matrix that releases growth factors slowly over 7 to 10 days.
ezPRF turned into a natural gel through controlled heating and cooling. On the scalp it adds structural support to the tissue and an even longer release of growth factors.
Benefits
The treatment works on the follicle and on the scalp around it, so the gains show in both new growth and the quality of existing hair.
Growth factors signal weakened follicles to promote the growth of new hair.
Leads to thicker, fuller and stronger hair over the course of the series.
Strengthens existing hair, so less of it ends up on your brush, pillow or shower floor.
Reduces inflammation and improves blood flow, creating a better environment for growth.
Made from your own blood, with no synthetic substances and no risk of allergic reaction.
Mild swelling, redness and tenderness usually settle within 1 to 2 days.
PRP and PRF are best suited to men and women in the early to moderate stages of hair loss, while follicles are thinning but still active. They are a non-surgical option for people who want to restore density without hair transplant surgery.
The most common reason patients come to us is androgenetic alopecia, male or female pattern hair loss. Dr. Cappel confirms the cause at your evaluation, because a treatment that helps one type of hair loss can do little for another.
Not categorically. PRF is the newer preparation, and it is often marketed as the better one, but Dr. Cappel does not see it that way. Both start from your own blood and both work by concentrating the growth factors your body already uses to repair tissue. The difference is how the sample is processed, not its quality.
PRP delivers a rapid, concentrated burst of growth factors. PRF releases them gradually from its fibrin scaffold. Neither pattern is automatically superior; each suits different situations. We use both preparations on the scalp, and the choice depends on the pattern and stage of your hair loss rather than on which is newer.
Expect the first change, usually less shedding, within 2 to 3 months. Visible new growth and thickness follow over the next 3 to 6 months, and results are at their best 6 to 12 months after the series is complete. The hair growth cycle is slow, so patience and sticking to the treatment schedule matter.
Results are long-lasting with maintenance. Pattern hair loss is progressive, so without continued treatment it resumes. Most patients return every 6 to 12 months to keep their gains.
PRP and PRF are often combined with other therapies for enhanced results. Pairing an in-office treatment with a daily supplement such as Nutrafol, or with needle-free TED, stimulates follicles directly while supporting growth from within.
Yes. Because ezPRF and ezGEL are made from your own blood, they are 100% natural and biocompatible, with no risk of an allergic reaction. The risks that remain are related to the injections themselves: temporary swelling, bruising and soreness in the scalp.
Safety also depends on who performs the treatment and how the sample is handled. The blood must be drawn, processed and reintroduced under sterile technique, with single-use disposables. At Dermagnify, Dr. Cappel reviews your medical history before planning treatment and performs every injection himself.
Treatment overview
Dr. Cappel evaluates your hair and scalp, discusses your concerns and creates a personalized treatment plan.
Stay well hydrated for 24 to 48 hours. Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for one week, unless they were prescribed to you.
A small amount of blood is drawn and processed in the ezPRF centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and growth factors.
The scalp is numbed with a local anesthetic, then Dr. Cappel carefully injects ezPRF or ezGEL into the thinning areas. The visit takes 45 to 60 minutes.
Expect mild swelling, redness and tenderness for 1 to 2 days. Do not wash your hair for 24 hours, and avoid strenuous exercise and excessive heat for 24 to 48 hours.
Complete a series of 3 to 4 treatments, 4 to 6 weeks apart. Results build over 6 to 12 months, with maintenance every 6 to 12 months.
