Wrinkles and Fine Lines Treatment in Ponte Vedra Beach

Expression lines, fine lines and deep creases each need a different fix. We match the treatment to the line, from neurotoxins to Ellacor micro-coring, which removes excess skin without surgery.

What is the best treatment for wrinkles and fine lines?

Short answer

It depends on the type of line. Expression lines such as frown lines and crow's feet respond best to neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport or Letybo). Fine lines and texture respond to collagen-building treatments such as Sofwave, microneedling, lasers and peels. Moderate to severe wrinkles caused by excess skin respond to Ellacor micro-coring, which removes that skin without surgery.

Wrinkles form from the inside and the outside. With age we make less collagen and elastin, so skin becomes thinner and less resilient. Sun exposure, smoking, pollution and repeated expressions then break down the skin's structural support faster.

Not all wrinkles are the same. Dynamic wrinkles come from muscle movement and show when you smile, frown or squint. Static wrinkles stay visible at rest. Creams rarely reach deep enough to rebuild collagen, which is why lasting improvement needs professional treatment.

The most effective plans work on several levels at once: relaxing overactive muscles, rebuilding collagen and improving texture and tone. Dr. Cappel will help you choose based on your skin, your goals and your lifestyle.

Contributing factors

What makes wrinkles worse

Some causes are out of your control. Several are not, which is why prevention matters as much as treatment.

  • Sun exposure

UV radiation is the single biggest contributor to premature aging, accounting for up to 90% of visible signs. It breaks down collagen and elastin and triggers abnormal elastin.

  • Natural aging

The body makes less collagen and elastin every year, so skin thins and lines deepen over time.

  • Repetitive expressions

Smiling, frowning, squinting and raising your brows fold the skin every day. Over decades, those folds become permanent creases.

  • Smoking

Smoking restricts blood flow and oxygen to the skin, breaks down collagen and elastin, and etches lines around the mouth and eyes.

  • Dehydration

Skin without enough moisture loses plumpness and elasticity, so it looks dull and crepey and every crease shows more.

  • Genetics

Skin thickness, connective tissue structure and your natural rate of collagen production are all partly inherited.

Ellacor micro-coring removes excess skin without surgery

Energy-based treatments stimulate collagen and tighten skin to a degree, but they cannot fix the underlying problem when there is simply too much skin. Ellacor is the first and only FDA-cleared procedure that removes excess skin without surgery. We offer Ellacor 2.0, the latest generation.

Hollow needles remove tiny full-thickness cores of skin, each about 0.5 mm across, so small they leave no evidence of scarring. Up to 8% of the skin in the treated area can be removed in one session. As it heals, the remaining skin contracts and the sites close, leaving tighter, smoother skin. No heat is used, so there is no risk of thermal injury.

Ellacor was first cleared for the mid and lower face. In December 2025 its clearance expanded to body areas, including the abdomen, crepey arm skin, the skin above the elbows and knees, the neck, thighs and "banana rolls" below the buttocks, which makes it an option for loose skin after weight loss, including weight loss on GLP-1 medications, and after the hormonal changes of peri-menopause.

  • Moderate to severe wrinkles: nasolabial folds, marionette lines and lines around the mouth
  • Laxity and jowls: sagging cheeks, jawline and neck
  • Facial hollowing: Ellacor adds no volume, but tightening and repositioning the skin improves a hollow look
  • Before a facelift: a non-surgical option for patients who want to delay surgery
  • Results: in clinical studies, 93% of patients saw visible improvement in moderate to severe wrinkles

What an Ellacor treatment involves

Ellacor suits adults 22 and older with Fitzpatrick skin types I to IV (lighter to medium skin tones) and moderate to severe wrinkles or laxity on the face or body. After local anesthesia, the device is applied in a systematic pattern. Most patients describe tolerable pressure, and treatment takes 45 to 60 minutes depending on the area.

Expect 5 to 7 days of redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness and small circular marks. Most patients return to work and social plans after 7 to 10 days, sometimes with makeup over residual marks, far less than the 2 to 4 weeks a surgical facelift needs. Over-the-counter pain relief is usually enough afterward.

You will see some tightening right away, with full results developing over 3 to 6 months. Results can last 1 to 2 years or longer. Most patients need a single treatment; those with more advanced concerns may add a second 6 to 12 months later.

  • Less common effects: pain, dryness, crusting, bleeding, numbness or peeling
  • Rare complications: infection, scarring, skin irregularities or hyperpigmentation, minimized by proper pre- and post-treatment care

Neurotoxins for expression lines

For lines that appear when you move, such as forehead lines, frown lines and crow's feet, a neurotoxin is the most effective non-surgical treatment. It relaxes the muscle that folds the skin, smoothing existing lines and helping prevent new ones.

We offer Botox, Dysport and Letybo, priced by area from $350. Results begin in 3 to 7 days, are complete at about two weeks and last 3 to 4 months, with no downtime.

When to start, and how long results last

There is no single right age, because genetics, lifestyle and sun exposure vary. Many dermatologists suggest starting prevention in your late twenties or early thirties, when collagen production slows, with Clear + Brilliant, medical-grade skincare and neurotoxins. If you already have visible lines, it is never too late to start.

Neurotoxins last 3 to 4 months. Collagen-building treatments such as Sofwave, microneedling and Opus Plasma last 6 to 12 months or longer. Resurfacing with Aerolase or chemical peels can hold for a year or more. A maintenance plan that pairs periodic treatments with good daily skincare keeps results going.

Questions

Questions about Wrinkles and Fine Lines

It depends on the wrinkle. Neurotoxins treat expression lines such as frown lines and crow's feet, collagen-building treatments and resurfacing treat fine lines and texture, and Ellacor removes the excess skin behind moderate to severe wrinkles. Many patients combine them.

Ellacor is not a laser, radiofrequency or ultrasound device and uses no heat. It physically removes tiny cores of excess skin, which energy-based treatments cannot do, so it reaches moderate to severe wrinkles and laxity they cannot.

Most patients have 5 to 7 days of redness, swelling, bruising and small circular marks, and return to work and social activities after 7 to 10 days. Makeup can cover any residual marks.

Results can last 1 to 2 years or longer, depending on your skin, age and lifestyle. Some patients choose a second treatment after 12 to 18 months to enhance or maintain them.

Many dermatologists recommend starting prevention in your late twenties or early thirties, when collagen production begins to slow. If you already have visible lines, it is never too late to start.

Most are well tolerated. Sofwave, Aerolase and Fotoage feel warm. Needle treatments cause slight discomfort, and numbing cream or local anesthesia is used for microneedling, Opus Plasma and Ellacor.

Yes, and combining is often the most effective approach. Many patients pair a neurotoxin for expression lines with Sofwave or microneedling for laxity and texture, or a laser with a hydrating Bela MD+ facial.

Neurotoxins work in 3 to 7 days, with full results at two weeks. Resurfacing shows once the skin heals, usually in 7 to 10 days. Collagen-building treatments improve gradually, with the biggest change around three months.
