Dr. Mark A. Cappel, MD

Dr. Mark A. Cappel, MD is the founder and medical director of Dermagnify in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He is board certified in both dermatology and dermatopathology, a distinction that lets him correlate what he sees on the skin with how skin disease looks under the microscope.

That dual expertise gives him an understanding of the skin from its surface appearance to its microscopic structure. It supports highly accurate diagnoses and more targeted treatment, and it shapes an approach that puts medical accuracy, patient safety and long-term skin health ahead of one-size-fits-all solutions.

Dr. Cappel earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors, which recognize the top medical students in the nation.

He completed his dermatology residency at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, followed by a dermatopathology fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. That training remains central to his commitment to evidence-based dermatology and diagnostic excellence.

After his fellowship, Dr. Cappel served on the staff of the Mayo Clinic Department of Dermatology for nine years, including as Dermatology Residency Program Director in Jacksonville.

He has authored more than 45 peer-reviewed medical journal publications and has presented at national and international dermatology and dermatopathology conferences. He remains engaged in continuing medical education, research and teaching through professional organizations such as the American Academy of Dermatology. See his publications and presentations.
