Hair restoration
Physician-led, non-surgical hair restoration. Diagnosis first, then a plan matched to the cause: needle-free TED, Xtressé regenerative therapy and PRP/PRF injections for thinning hair in men and women.
The best hair loss treatment is the one matched to the cause, so it starts with a dermatologist's diagnosis. At Dermagnify, Dr. Cappel combines in-office treatments (needle-free TED, Xtressé with Xvie, or PRP/PRF injections) with daily support such as Nutrafol or Viviscal. Most patients see less shedding first and thicker hair over 3 to 6 months.
The most common cause is androgenetic alopecia, male or female pattern hair loss. It is genetic: follicles become sensitive to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and shrink over time, producing shorter, finer hairs until they stop producing hair altogether.
Another common cause is telogen effluvium, temporary shedding after a major physical or emotional stressor such as surgery, illness, childbirth or extreme stress. It pushes many follicles into the resting phase at once, so diffuse shedding appears a few months after the event.
A treatment that works for one type of hair loss can do nothing for another, and stimulating growth is futile if a hormonal imbalance or nutritional deficiency is left unaddressed. That is why we diagnose first and often treat from several angles at once: follicles, scalp health, hormones and nutrition.
What we treat
Our hair restoration treatments are for both men and women, from early thinning to established pattern hair loss.
Male and female pattern hair loss: a receding hairline in men, diffuse thinning and a widening part in women.
Excessive shedding triggered by stress, illness, hormonal changes or nutritional deficiencies.
More hair than usual on your brush, in the shower or on your pillow.
A gradual loss of volume, density and scalp coverage over time.
Hair that breaks easily, often after over-processing or styling. Treatment improves the strength and quality of existing hair.
An inflamed or poorly nourished scalp holds back growth. Each of our treatments works to improve the scalp environment.
Contributing factors
Most hair loss has more than one driver. Identifying them is part of your evaluation.
Inherited sensitivity to DHT is the root of pattern hair loss in both men and women.
DHT drives androgenetic alopecia. For women, pregnancy, childbirth and menopause cause hormonal shifts that can thin hair temporarily or permanently.
Follicles need iron, zinc, vitamin D and B vitamins (especially biotin). Shortfalls weaken hair and increase shedding.
Chronic emotional stress and acute physical stress raise cortisol, which can disrupt the growth cycle and trigger telogen effluvium a few months later.
Bleach, dyes and relaxers damage the hair shaft. Tight ponytails, braids or extensions can cause traction alopecia.
Some blood thinners, blood pressure medications, antidepressants and chemotherapy drugs list hair loss as a side effect. Autoimmune conditions such as alopecia areata and lupus can attack follicles.
TED (TransEpidermal Delivery) is a completely non-invasive, pain-free treatment. The handpiece uses low-frequency acoustic sound waves and air pressure to open temporary, microscopic channels in the skin's top layer (a process called acoustic cavitation), so a hair growth serum can reach the follicles without a single needle.
The serum, TED+ Hair Care Formula, is a blend of growth factors, peptides and nutrients that supports scalp health, reduces inflammation, improves blood flow and stimulates follicles to produce thicker, stronger hair. You feel warmth and a gentle vibration and hear a quiet ringing. A session takes 20 to 30 minutes, with no downtime and no known side effects.
Most patients complete a series of three treatments, one month apart. Reduced shedding is often noticed within a month, visible growth and thickness over the next 2 to 3 months, and optimal results 3 to 6 months after the series. Maintenance is recommended every 6 to 12 months. TED suits men and women in the early to moderate stages of hair loss.
Xtressé is a complete hair program developed by dermatologists and hair restoration experts. It pairs an in-office regenerative treatment with daily at-home care, so follicle support continues between visits. It is designed for both men and women.
The in-office Xvie session takes 20 to 30 minutes. Your provider applies the concentrate to the scalp with micro-needling, so its growth factors and peptides reach the follicles. Most patients feel mild discomfort, with little to no downtime. Visible improvement usually begins 30 to 60 days after the first session and builds over the program. Maintenance Xvie treatments are typically repeated 2 to 3 times a year. Individual results vary.
Our 90-Day Hair Restoration Challenge bundles one in-office Xvie application with three bags of Hair Growth Gummies (two a day for three months) and one bottle of FR Concentrate Serum (one to two pumps a day on thinning areas, massaged in, no rinsing).
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) use growth factors from your own blood to awaken dormant follicles, increase thickness and density, reduce shedding and improve scalp blood flow. Because the treatment is 100% autologous, there is no risk of allergic reaction.
We use ezPRF and ezGEL. ezPRF is spun more slowly, at lower force, which preserves more platelets and white blood cells within a fibrin matrix. That matrix releases growth factors slowly over 7 to 10 days. ezGEL turns ezPRF into a natural gel through controlled heating and cooling, adding structural support and an even longer release.
A small amount of blood is drawn and processed, your scalp is numbed with local anesthetic, and Dr. Cappel injects the ezPRF or ezGEL into the thinning areas. The visit takes 45 to 60 minutes. Most patients have a series of 3 to 4 treatments, 4 to 6 weeks apart. Results begin at 2 to 3 months and are optimal 6 to 12 months after the series, with maintenance every 6 to 12 months.
Daily supplements address the internal drivers of thinning, such as stress, hormones and nutrition, and pair well with any in-office treatment. Both options below are drug-free, and consistency matters: results build over months and continued use maintains them.
Treatment overview
Dr. Cappel reviews your hair loss history and examines your scalp to identify the type and cause of your hair loss.
A personalized plan that often combines an in-office treatment with daily supplements or at-home care.
For TED, arrive with clean, dry hair. For PRP/PRF, hydrate well and avoid blood thinners for one week.
TED and Xvie sessions take 20 to 30 minutes. PRP/PRF takes 45 to 60 minutes with the scalp numbed.
Supplements and, with Xtressé, daily gummies and serum keep supporting your follicles between visits.
Less shedding usually comes first, with thicker hair over 3 to 6 months. Maintenance sessions keep the gains.

It depends on the cause of your hair loss, so a dermatologist's evaluation comes first. Dr. Cappel diagnoses the type of hair loss, then recommends a plan that may include TED, Xtressé or PRP/PRF, supplements such as Nutrafol or Viviscal, and potentially prescription medication.
Yes. Every treatment we offer is designed for both women and men. In women, pattern hair loss usually shows as diffuse thinning and a widening part, and pregnancy, childbirth and menopause can all trigger thinning.
The hair growth cycle is slow, so expect at least 3 to 6 months for noticeable gains in thickness. Reduced shedding often shows earlier: within about a month with TED and within 30 to 60 days with Xtressé.
They can be long-lasting, but pattern hair loss is progressive and returns without treatment. Most patients need maintenance, such as PRP/PRF or TED every 6 to 12 months or Xvie 2 to 3 times a year, plus consistent supplements.
TED is completely non-invasive and delivers a growth serum with ultrasound and air pressure. PRP involves drawing your blood, processing it and injecting the concentrate into your scalp.
PRF is spun more gently, so it holds a higher concentration of growth factors in a fibrin matrix that releases them slowly over 7 to 10 days. That makes it a more powerful stimulus than traditional PRP. See our PRP vs PRF guide.
Yes, and combining them is often the most effective strategy. An in-office treatment such as PRP/PRF or TED, paired with a daily supplement such as Nutrafol, stimulates follicles directly while supporting growth from within.
Side effects are minimal. TED has no known side effects. PRP/PRF can cause temporary soreness, swelling or bruising at injection sites, and Xvie can cause mild discomfort during the session. The supplements are drug-free and generally well tolerated.
